There is a huge variety of Christian youth ministry in Guildford and GCC is involved in much/ most of it!
Schools workers, school prayer groups, 24-7 prayer weeks, church youth works, detached workers, day camps, christian cafe, mission teams, training, community projects, youth alphas, school lessons, work with those on the margins...... it is quite amazing how much has developed. In particular ...
The youth network gathers over 30 full time youth workers focussed on cooperation and mission. it is from this relational base and trust that many of the ideas and projects emerge and grow. Dave Slinn, employed by the Matrix Trust, coordinates The Network.

Guildford YMCA is a major presence in the town and initiates many of the youth projects. Pete Brayne, who was senior leader of GCC for 10 years is now Chief Executive of the 'Y'. In particular the Plantation, managed by Paul Wisdom, runs the cafe, different projects and an advice centre. Joy Ahearn is manager of Nightstop, a homeless charity working with the vulnerable young.
Mulberry house is managed by Irene Thorne and is a hostel for young women at risk.

The Matrix Trust, directed by Ian Nicholson. oversees the Network and looks to be a catalyst fro cooperation and mission. Matrix funds the Network roles and much of what it initiates. It also helps fund Eden people, the 24-7 mission team development, student work on the campus and many of the community projects. |
