GCC life

GCC and the Fusion connection

Fact One

Guildford is fast becoming a major student city! It has leading music, drama and law colleges and a growing university. Along with Guildford College we will soon have approaching 30000 students.

Fact Two

Less than one per cent of students in Further Education are active Christians

We want to see God move  and that existing christian students will find it a place where they flourish and grow in God. Beyond that though we want to pray that loads of students will come to Christ.

To help local students better GCC has recently become a Fusion associate church.  Alongside UCCF ( the CU) and Friends International (overseas students) Fusion is a strategy - working through cells - aiming to bring the gospel to University campusses around the UK. It works through partnerships with things like Alpha, 24-7 and Soul Survivor to be a catalyst for mission.

There has been a really brilliant cell development on the campus over the last few years and its also been great to have a good core of students involved in GCC. We see GCC as a family base for the students who then reach out on the campus and, for some, through Submerge the student congregation based at St Saviours. Its also been great having regular lunches and also to see students getting involved in different areas of GCC life.

This year there are some exciting developments as students cells will be linked more directly with different congregations for support and mentoring. Steph Carter, Jayne Trimble and Tim Ganie and others will be helping us know how to develop and strengthen the cells which see GCC as their base. We want to assure students of a warm welcome and a commitment to serve and support as much as we are able.

The next few weeks will see the cells taking shape and also thousands of new students coming to Guildford. Please pray that  God will move among studenst like never before.
