Since being formed in 1981, Guildford Community Church has emphasised people before buildings or programmes. Not too difficult really, as we’ve never owned a building!

When we began, we were loosely grouped with what were called house churches but later became known as new churches, which is still the term that is most frequently used.
Our core values have always been around putting greater emphasis on 'doing and being' church rather than attending a meeting. We want to put Jesus at the centre of all we do, express commitment to each other and reach out. There are still quite a few people who have been in GCC all along but obviously many many new faces as well.
Over the years we have become far more diverse as new people join and new projects are initiated. In many ways we are now much more a relational network of people and groups who are working out their faith in many different areas - locally and overseas.
We believe that all the congregations in the town make up the one church in Guildford, and we work to see that oneness expressed in ever more practical ways. Our vision is to see Guildford transformed by the good news of Jesus, and we know that GCC cannot do that alone, but in partnership with all the other congregations in the town.
Nationally GCC is linked to the Pioneer network of churches; we have found the friendships and values of Pioneer to be close to our own. Many of our links, projects and relationships have been encouraged by Pioneer
